About The Event
This forum will bring together First Nations leadership, Directors of Emergency Management, Health Directors, and regional partners from Treaty No. 6, Treaty No. 7, & Treaty No. 8 (Alberta) to explore the growing intersection between health emergency management, community safety, and emergency management systems within First Nations communities.
First Nations are increasingly responding to complex and overlapping emergencies - including wildfires, opioid crises, mental health crises, and community safety events. These incidents demonstrate that effective emergency response requires strong coordination between health systems and emergency management operations. The purpose of this forum is to create a collaborative space to discuss these challenges, share emerging practices, and strengthen coordinated, Nation-led approaches to emergency preparedness and response.
The forum will focus on:
Strengthening coordination between Emergency Management, Health Emergency Preparedness, and Community Safety
Sharing lessons learned and best practices
Identifying opportunities for regional collaboration and capacity development
