CONFEDERACY OF TREATY NO. 6 FIRST NATIONS EXTENDS CONDOLENCES FOLLOWING TRAGEDY AT CFB WAINWRIGHT
October 18, 2026 (Treaty No. 6 Territory) - The Confederacy of Treaty No. 6 First Nations extends our deepest condolences to the families, communities and members of the Canadian Armed Forces affected by the tragic incident at CFB Wainwright.
We honour the lives lost and offer our prayers for those who have been injured, their loved ones and all those grieving this tragedy.
We also extend our gratitude to the first responders and medical personnel providing care and support during this difficult time.
First Nations have a long and proud history of military service, having answered the call to serve in times of war and peace. We recognize that the sacrifices of those who serve are also carried by their families and communities. Today, we stand alongside all those affected in grief, respect and solidarity.
May the Creator bring strength and comfort to the families mourning their loved ones, healing to those injured and protection to all those who continue to serve.
Grand Chief Joey Pete
