THERE IS NO PLACE FOR HATE: CONFEDERACY STANDS WITH TK'EMLÜPS TE SECWEPEMC

September 28, 2026 (Treaty No. 6 Territory) - The Confederacy of Treaty No. 6 First Nations

strongly condemns the racist and hateful actions that took place on the lands of Tk'emlüps te Secwépemc this weekend. There is no justification for targeting Survivors, families and

Indigenous peoples with white supremacist hatred and the mockery of children who never

returned home.

The decision to gather near the former Kamloops Indian Residential School and later display a banner mocking the search for the children was deliberate, hateful and deeply disturbing. For this to happen only days before the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation makes these actions even more reprehensible.

We stand with Kükwpi7 Rosanne Casimir and Tk'emlüps te Secwépemc in condemning these actions and calling for meaningful action against racism, white supremacy, hate-motivated conduct and Indian Residential School denialism.

Indian Residential School denialism is hate. It attacks the truth of Survivors, causes further

harm to families and communities, and fuels anti-Indigenous racism. Canada must

recognize Indian Residential School denialism as a hate crime and ensure it is punishable

under Canadian law.

Survivors and families should not have to continue defending the truth of what happened to

their children. Attempts to mock, deny or minimize the truth of the Indian Residential School

system cannot continue without consequence.

The Confederacy stands with Tk'emlüps te Secwépemc, Survivors, Intergenerational Survivors and the families who continue to search for answers and honour the children who never came home.

There is no place for this hate.
